Shokay: A social enterprise that connects Tibetan plateau, Shanghai's Chongming Island and the global fashion industry
Shoaky is a social enterprise that belongs to Ventures in Development’s HK-registered non-profit organization. Founded in 2006 by Carol Chyau and Marie So (who came from Taiwan and Hong Kong, respectively), the social enterprise buys yak down directly from Tibetan herders through a partnership with a local cooperative society, and makes uniquely textured knits out of the yak down before selling them worldwide.
